Question
What is the source and authenticity of the following narration?
Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu anhu) has narrated that Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Whoever confers one hundred blessings upon me on Friday will be accompanied by such light on the Day of Judgement that it would suffice the whole creation were it to be distributed amongst them.”

Imam Abu Nu’aym (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith.
Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu anhu) has narrated that Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “Whoever sends one hundred salutations upon me on Friday will come on the Day of Qiyamah with such light that, if it were distributed among all of creation, it would suffice them.”
(Hilyatul Awliya, vol. 8, pg. 46-47)
There are some narrators in the chain for whom I have not found any biographical notes nor have I come across a grading from the earlier Muhaddithun.
‘Allamah Sakhawi (rahimahullah) has cited the Hadith in his Al Qawlul Badi’. He mentions that Imam Abu Nu‘aym (rahimahullah) described it as gharib, but he does not provide any further comment on its authenticity.

حدثنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن عبد الله الحافظ، بنيسابور، ثنا محمد بن أبي معاذ عن أبيه، عن إبراهيم بن أدهم، عن محمد بن عجلان، عن علي بن الحسين، عن أبيه، عن علي بن أبي طالب، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «من صلى علي يوم الجمعة مائة مرة جاء يوم القيامة ومعه نور لو قسم ذلك النور بين الخلق كلهم لوسعهم» غريب من حديث إبراهيم وابن عجلان لم نكتبه إلا من حديث محمد بن أحمد البخاري.

وعن علي – رضي الله عنه – قال: «من صلى على النبي – صلى الله عليه وسلم – يوم الجمعة مائة مرة جاء يوم القيامة ومعه نور لو قسم ذلك النور بين الخلق كلهم لوسعهم» أخرجه أبو نعيم في الحلية وقال غريب.
