What is the meaning of this Hadith?
Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Soon people will emerge from my Ummah who drink the Quran like they drink milk”
Answer
Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Amir (radiyallahu ‘anhu). Hafiz Haythami (rahimahullah) has declared the narrators reliable.
(Al Mu’jamul Kabir, Hadith: 821, vol. 17. Refer: Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 6, pg. 229)
‘Allamah Munawi (rahimahullah) explains, “They will recite the Quran without pondering and reflecting over its meanings and laws. The words will merely slide off their tongues just as milk hastily slides down the throat”
(Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 4738)
