Question
I would like to know the authenticity of this story as there are two versions to it and which is the correct version?
One version is mentioned on your website here and the other version is as follows:
Abu Dujanah always used to pray behind Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). As soon as he would finish his Salah, he would immediately leave the Masjid. This caught the eyes of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) so one day he stopped him and asked: ‘O Abu Dujanah, don’t you need anything from Allah?” Abu Dujanah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) replied: ‘O Messenger of Allah, Yes I do. I can’t live without Allah even with a blink of an eye.’
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) asked: ‘So why don’t you stay with us after Salah and supplicate unto Allah?’ Abu Dujanah replied: ‘The reason is that I have a Jewish neighbour who has a date palm tree, and its branches come over into the courtyard of my house. So when the wind blows at night, the dates fall into my courtyard. That is why you see me coming out of the Masjid quickly, so as I can go and collect the dates and return them to the owner, before my kids wake up. Once they wake up, they will eat them as they are hungry. I swear to you, O Messenger of Allah, that one day I saw one of my children chewing the date, and I put my finger in his throat and took it out before he could swallow it. When my son cried, I said to him, ‘Do not disgrace your father in the hereafter.’ The child cried due to extreme hunger. I told him, ‘I will not allow haram to enter your belly even if you have to pass away.’
Hearing the story of Abu Dujanah, Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and the Sahabah shed tears. Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) then ordered ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhu) to gather the neighbours of Abu Dujanah. Once gathered, Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, O you the owner of a tree whose trunk reaches your neighbour’s house, Abu Dujanah, I wish to buy your tree in exchange of ten palm trees in heaven, whose roots are from the green gem, the tree of gold, and the branches of the pearls, and a maiden [hur] for each of the dates in the tree.’ The owner of the tree who later became known as a hypocrite turned him down ‘I do not want to sell it at the price you promised in the hereafter, but if you want to buy it then I sell it for cash!”.
Hearing the words of the hypocrite, Abu Bakr (radiyallahu ‘anhu) immediately told the hypocrite, ‘I will purchase it now in exchange of ten of my best date palm trees that are unrivalled in the city of Medina.’ The hypocrite became happy and accepted the offer. He purchased it and gifted it to Abu Dujanah.
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) told Abu Bakr (radiyallahu ‘anhu), ‘I guarantee you the exchange in Jannah. Hearing these words, Abu Bakr (radiyallahu ‘anhu) became extremely pleased and Abu Dujanah also was elated.
The hypocrite returns home and said to his wife ‘O my wife, I got a lot profit today, I have sold the palm tree to Abu Bakr in exchange of ten best palm trees in this city, but remember, the tree we are selling remains in our garden for ever and we will eat its fruit and not give any to the owner.
Allah willed otherwise for the next day the palm tree in the house of the hypocrite had moved to the home page of Abu Dujanah, as if the tree had never existed in the garden of the hypocrite!”

This version, like the first version (linked in the question) is also cited in a non primary Hadith source.

I have not come across the chain of narrators for this incident nor have I been able to locate it in any authentic Hadith source. It is best to abstain from quoting this until it’s chain can be located and verified.

(لطيفة) كان في زمن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم رجل يقال له أبو دجانة، فكان إذا صلى الفجر خرج مستعجلا ولا يصبر حتى يسمع دعاء النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال له يوما: أليس لك إلى الله حاجة؟ فقال: بلى فقال فلم لا تقف حتى تسمع الدعاء؟ فقال: لي عذر يا رسول الله.
قال وما عذرك؟ فقال إن داري ملاصقة لدار رجل، وفي داره نخلة، وهي مشرفة على داري، فإذا هب الهواء ليلا يقع من رطبها في داري، فإذا انتبه أولادي، وقد مسهم الضر من الجوع فما وجدوه أكلوه، فأعجل قبل انتباههم، وأجمع ما وقع وأحمله إلى دار صاحب النخلة، ولقد رأيت ولدي يوما قد وضع رطبة في فمه فأخرجتها بأصبعي من فيه وقلت له يا بني لا تفضح أباك في الآخرة، فبكى لفرط جوعه.
فقلت له: لو خرجت نفسك لم أدع الحرام يدخل إلى جوفك، وحملتها مع غيرها إلى صاحبها.
فدمعت عينا النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وسأل عن صاحب النخلة، فقيل له فلان المنافق، فاستدعاه وقال له: بعني تلك النخلة التي في دارك بعشرة من النخل: عروقها من الزبرجد الأخضر، وساقها من الذهب الأحمر، وقضبانها من اللؤلؤ الأبيض، ومعها من الحور العين بعدد ما عليها من الرطب.
فقال له المنافق: ما أنا تاجر أبيع بنسيئة، لا أبيع إلا نقدا لا وعدا، فوثب أبو بكر الصديق رضي الله تعالى عنه وقال: هي بعشرة من النخيل في الموضع
الفلاني، وليس في المدينة مثل تلك النخيل، ففرح المنافق وقال بعتك.
قال قد اشتريت، ثم وهبها لأبي دجانة، فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قد ضمنت لك يا أبا بكر عوضها، ففرح الصديق، وفرح أبو دجانة رضي الله عنهما، ومضى المنافق إلى زوجته يقول قد ربحت اليوم ربحا عظيما، وأخبرها بالقصة وقال قد أخذت عشرة من النخيل، والنخلة التي بعتها مقيمة عندي في داري أبدا نأكل منها ولا نوصل منها شيئا إلى صاحبها، فلما نام تلك الليلة وأصبح الصباح وإذا بالنخلة قد تحولت بالقدرة إلى دار أبي دجانة كأنها لم تكن في دار المنافق، فتعجب غاية العجب.
وهذه معجزة سيدنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وفي قدرة الله تعالى ما هو أعظم من ذلك.
