Is it true that keeping Muwatta Imam Malik close during childbirth eases labour and delivery?
Answer
‘Allamah Sakhawi (rahimahullah), the renowned student of Hafiz ibn Hajar (rahimahullah), has written that some have experienced ease in labour by placing Muwatta Imam Malik on the woman’s head during childbirth.
(Al Ajwibatul Mardiyyah, vol. 3, pg. 987)
This practice is based on experience and there is no harm in acting upon it without deeming it to be sourced from Hadith. However, care must be taken to treat the kitab with the utmost respect.
