Kindly provide the reference for this narration.
إن من النفقة التي تضاعف بسبع مئة ضعف نفقة الرجل على نفسه وأهل بيته
Answer
Imam Abu Bakr Ibn Abi Shaybah and Imam Abu Bakr ibn Abid Dunya (rahimahumallah) have recorded this as the statement of Imam Sha’bi (rahimahullah), a Tabi’i.
Imam Sha’bi (rahimahullah) said: “Among the types of spending whose [rewards] are multiplied seven hundred times is what a man spends on himself and his family.”
(Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah: 27178, Kitabul ‘Iyal: 505)
This narration should be quoted as the statement of Imam Sha’bi (rahimahullah). However, the nature of this narration is not such that he could have made applying logic. It will therefore be understood that he heard it from someone who in turn heard it from Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).
