Question
What is the source and authenticity of the following du’a? Kindly provide the Arabic text as well.
Allahumma inni atabarra-u ilayka min hawli wa quwwati wa altaji-u ila hawlika wa quwwatika
Rabbi a’inni wa la tu’in ‘alayya, wansurni wa la tansur ‘alayya
Answer
These are two separate du’as.
With regard to the first du‘a, I have not come across the first du’a in any primary Hadith source. However, it may be recited as a general du’a since the meaning is correct, without deeming it a masnun du’a.
Arabic text:
اللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّي أَتَبَرَّأُ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ حَوْلِي وَقُوَّتِي وَأَلْتَجِئُ إِلٰى حَوْلِكَ وَقُوَّتِكَ
Translation:
O Allah, I renounce my own strength and power, and I take refuge in Your strength and Your power.
The second du’a is part of a longer authentic du’a of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) recorded in Sunan Tirmidhi (Hadith: 3551) and other Hadith sources. See the complete du’a and Arabic text here.

سنن الترمذي:
(٣٥٥١) – حدثنا محمود بن غيلان قال: حدثنا أبو داود الحفري، عن سفيان الثوري، عن عمرو بن مرة، عن عبد الله بن الحارث، عن طليق بن قيس، عن ابن عباس، قال: كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يدعو يقول: «رب أعني ولا تعن علي، وانصرني ولا تنصر علي، وامكر لي ولا تمكر علي، واهدني ويسر الهدى لي، وانصرني على من بغى علي، رب اجعلني لك شكارا، لك ذكارا، لك رهابا، لك مطواعا، لك مخبتا، إليك أواها منيبا، رب تقبل توبتي، واغسل حوبتي، وأجب دعوتي، وثبت حجتي، وسدد لساني، واهد قلبي، واسلل سخيمة صدري».
هذا حديث حسن صحيح قال: محمود بن غيلان، وحدثنا محمد بن بشر العبدي، عن سفيان، هذا الحديث نحوه.
