What is the status of the following narration?
ويروى أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان على ثبير والكفار يطلبونه فقال الجبل: انزل عني فإني أخاف أن تؤخذ علي فيعاقبني الله بذلك فقال له جبل حراء: إلي يا رسول الله
Answer
This narration is cited in non-primary sources, such as Tafsir Baghawi. I have not come across a chain, nor have I found any grading for it from the Muhaddithun of the past.
(Tafsir Baghawi, Surah, Baqarah, Verse: 74)
Translation:
It is narrated that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) was on Mount Thabir while the disbelievers were searching for him. The mountain said: “Descend from me, for I fear that you may be captured while upon me and that Allah may punish me for it.” Thereupon Mount Hira said: “Come to me, O Messenger of Allah.”
