Question
Is this a Hadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)?
الرزق مقسوم، والحريص محروم، والحسود مغموم، والبخيل مذموم
Answer
I have not come across this as a Hadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). Hafiz Ibn ‘Abdil Barr (rahimahullah) has cited this as the statement of a wise person. This statement should be quoted as such.
He writes: “Among the sayings of the wise is: ‘Provision has already been apportioned, the greedy are deprived, the envious are consumed by grief, and the miser is condemned.'”
(Bahjatul Majalis, pg. 28)
