In which Hadith book can I find the following Hadith?
عن حنش قال رأيت عليا يضحي بكبشين فقلت له ما هذا فقال إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أوصاني أن أضحي عنه فأنا أضحي عنه
Answer
Imam Abu Dawud (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith.
Hanash ibnul Mu’tamir (rahimahullah) said: “I saw ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu) slaughtering two rams for udhiyah, so I asked him, ‘What is this?’ He replied, ‘Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) advised me to offer a sacrifice on his behalf, so I continue to offer a sacrifice on his behalf.’”
(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 2783)
Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) and other Muhaddithun have also recorded this Hadith with slight variation in the wording. See here
