Allamah Dhahabi’s Comments on the Astounding Memory of Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu)

Question

Kindly assist with the Arabic and exact reference for these two statements of Imam Al Dhahabi (rahimahullah):

1) “Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) is the pinnacle of memorising what he heard from the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and narrating it exactly as he heard it.”

2) “The astounding memory of Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) is indeed a sign that points to the miracle of Nubuwwah.”

Answer

‘Allamah Dhahabi (rahimahullah) mentioned this in his book Siyaru A’lamin Nubala. He writes:

1) “The extraordinary memory of Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) was from the miracles of Nubuwwah.”

(Siyaru A’lamin Nubala, vol. 2, pg. 594)

2) Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) was unmatched in preserving what he heard from the Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and in conveying it exactly as he heard it.”

(Siyaru A’lamin Nubala, vol. 2, pg. 619)
