Another Recital at the Time of Iftar

Question

How authentic is the following hadith?

وورد أنه – صلى الله عليه وسلم – كان يقول: يا واسع الفضل اغفر لي

Answer

Translation:

“And it has been reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would recite [at the time of iftar]: Ya Wasi’al Fadli, ighfir li”

I havent seen this as a Hadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

However, Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahullah) has repeatedly referenced this recital for iftar to the Sahabi Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) with the words: “Ya Wasi’al Maghfirati ighfir li”

يَا وَاسِعَ المَغْفِرَةِ اِغْفِرْلِي

Refer: Shu’abul Iman, Hadith: 3620, Fadailul Awqat, after Hadith: 143 and Ad-Da’watul Kabir, after Hadith: 450. Also see Lataiful Ma’arif, pg. 378)

There is no harm in reciting this du’a of the Sahabi (radiyallahu ‘anhu).
