لا تصاحب صاحب السوء فإنه قطعة من النار لا يستقيم وده ولا يفي بعهده

Imam Ibn Hibban (rahimahullah) has recorded this as the statement of Sa’id ibn Abi Ayyub (rahimahullah).
Sa’id ibn Abi Ayyub (rahimahullah) said: “Sa‘id ibn Abi Ayyub (rahimahullah), A Tab’ut Tabi’i who passed away in 161 A.H., said: “Do not keep the company of a person with poor character, for he is a piece of fire. His affection will not be consistent, nor will he fulfil his promises.”
