Question
What is the source and authenticity of the following narration?
“Confer blessings abundantly, giving this act its due importance and with steadfastness, for an abundance of salutations is from amongst the signs of love for Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and whoever loves something mentions it frequently.”
Answer
This is not a Hadith. Rather, it is the statement of ‘Allamah Sakhawi (rahimahullah), Demise: 902 A.H.
He writes, “You should engage in abundant recitation of salutations upon Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), remain steadfast in doing so, and combine between the various transmitted versions. Frequent salutations upon him is a sign of love, for whoever loves something mentions it often.”
