Question
I am searching for a reference for this narration:
“Shaytan’s strongest weapon against a person is the fear of poverty. When someone gives in to this fear, he starts doing wrong, avoids the truth, speaks out of desire, and begins to think badly of Allah.”

‘Allamah Ghazali (rahimahullah) has cited this as the statement of Imam Sufyan Thawri (rahimahullah).
Sufyan Thawri (rahimahullah) said: “Shaytan has no weapon more effective against a person than the fear of poverty. When one succumbs to it, he begins to engage in falsehood, refrain from the truth, speak according to his desires, and entertain evil thoughts about his Rabb.”

(وقال سفيان) الثوري (ليس للشيطان سلاح) يقاتل به ابن ادم (مثل خوف الفقر فاذا اقبل ذلك من اخذ في الباطل ومنع من الحق و تكلم بالهوي وطن بربه ظن الوء) واليه الاشارة بقوله تعالي الشيطان يعدكم الفقر و يأمركم بالفحشاء.
