Is this Hadith authentic?
ما أحد ينام إلا ضرب على سماخه بجرير معقد، فإن هو استيقظ فذكر الله عز وجل حلت عقدة، وإن استيقظ فتوضأ حلت عقدة أخرى، فإن قام فصلى حلت العقد كلهن، فإن هو استيقظ ولم يتوضأ ولم يصل أصبح العقد كلها كهيئتها، وبال الشيطان في أذنيه
Answer
This narration is recorded in Fawaid of ِAbu Tahir Al Mukhallis.
Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id Al Khudri (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “When a person goes to sleep, a plaited rope is tied over his ear. If he awakens and remembers Allah, one knot is loosened. If he makes wudu, another knot is untied. If he then offers Salah, all the knots are undone. However, if he wakes up, but neither performs wudu nor offers Salah, he remains in a state where all the knots remain as they were, and Shaytan urinates in his ears.”
(Al Mukhallisiyyat, Hadith: 198)
Hafiz Ibn Hajar has cited this Hadith under the commentary of the Hadith in Sahih Bukhari which mentions that Shaytan ties three knots when a person falls asleep. These knots are undone when a person offers Salah. See here.
This indicates that the Hadith is either sahih (authentic) or hasan (sound) according to him. See here.

أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: «ما أحد ينام إلا ضرب على سماخه بجرير معقد، فإن هو استيقظ فذكر الله عز وجل حلت عقدة، وإن استيقظ فتوضأ حلت عقدة أخرى، فإن قام فصلى حلت العقد كلهن، فإن هو استيقظ ولم يتوضأ ولم يصل أصبح العقد كلها كهيئتها، وبال الشيطان في أذنيه» .
فتح الباري لابن حجر: (٣/ ٢٥)
وفي حديث أبي سعيد «ما أحد ينام إلا ضرب على سماخه بجرير معقود» أخرجه المخلص في فوائده والسماخ بكسر المهملة وآخره معجمة ويقال بالصاد المهملة بدل السين.
