Question
Is the story reported by Abu Jahm ibn Hudhayfah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) about his cousin preferring to give water to another Sahabi during the Battle of Yarmuk suitable to quote?

This incident is recorded in Kitabuz Zuhd of Imam ‘Abdullah ibnul Mubarak and Shu’abul Iman of Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahullah). The narrators are reliable. The incident is suitable to quote.
Sayyiduna Abu Jahm ibn Hudhayfah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) related:
On the day of Yarmuk, I went out in search of my cousin. I carried with me a small water skin or a container with water, saying to myself, “If I find him still alive, I will give him some water to drink and wipe his face with it.”
I found him in his final moments, struggling for breath. I asked, “Shall I give you some water?” He gestured with his hand, agreeing. But then we heard another wounded man groaning in pain. My cousin indicated that I should take the water to him instead.
So I went to that man, and it turned out to be Hisham ibnul ‘As, the brother of ‘Amr ibnul ‘As. (radiyallahu ‘anhuma). I asked him, “Shall I give you some water?” But then he too heard another man groan. Hisham (radiyallahu ‘anhu) gestured that I should take it to him.
I went to that man, but by the time I reached him, he had passed away. I returned to Hisham (radiyallahu ‘anhu), and he too had breathed his last. I went back to my cousin, and he as well had passed away.

(٥٢٥) – أخبركم أبو عمر بن حيويه، وأبو بكر الوراق قالا: أخبرنا يحيى قال: حدثنا الحسين قال: أخبرنا ابن المبارك قال: أخبرنا عمر بن سعيد بن أبي حسين، حدثني ابن سابط، أو غيره أن أبا جهم بن حذيفة العدوي قال: انطلقت يوم اليرموك أطلب ابن عمي، ومعي شنة من ماء، وإناء، فقلت: «إن كان به رمق سقيته من الماء، ومسحت به وجهه، فإذا أنا به ينشغ» فقلت له: أسقيك؟ فأشار أن نعم، فإذا رجل يقول: آه، فأشار ابن عمي أن انطلق به إليه، فإذا هو هشام بن العاص أخو عمرو بن العاص، فأتيته، فقلت: أسقيك؟ فسمع آخر يقول: آه، فأشار هشام أن انطلق به إليه، فجئته فإذا هو قد مات، ثم رجعت إلى هشام، فإذا هو قد مات، ثم أتيت ابن عمي، فإذا هو قد مات”
